Municipal General Election Information

Pursuant to Section 1.06 of the Town Charter, Highland Beach Municipal General Elections are held the second Tuesday in March.  The Town Commission is composed of a Mayor-Commissioner, Vice Mayor-Commissioner and three (3) Commissioners, all which are elected at large.  Each Commissioner serve a three (3) year term and may serve two (2) successive elected full terms.


Municipal General Election

The Town of Highland Beach Municipal General Election will be held on Tuesday, March 12, 2019. The office up for election is:

  • Commissioner for a three (3) year term ending March 2022

Candidate Requirements

Persons interested in becoming a candidate must be a qualified elector (registered voter) in Highland Beach, State of Florida and reside within corporate limits of Highland Beach not less than one (1) year immediately preceding the beginning of the qualifying period (November 27, 2017).   All Town Commissioners are elected at large.


Qualifying Period

Qualifying period begins on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. and the last day of qualifying end on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at 12:00 p.m.  All candidates must file qualification papers in person with the Town Clerk / Filing Officer.  For more information about become a candidate, please contact Lanelda Gaskins, Town Clerk / Filing Officer / Supervisor of Election for Highland Beach Municipal Election at 561-278-4548 to schedule an appointment.  Our office hours are Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
